What’s in My Camera Bag?

If you’ve ever spotted me at a wedding, you’ll probably notice I travel light… well, relatively. A couple of cameras on me, a small bag nearby, maybe a few pocket-sized lights, nothing flashy, nothing over the top. Just the tools I need to quietly move through the day and capture things as they happen.

Hello, I’m Isaac, a wedding photographer at Oisin Studios. I’m sometimes asked what cameras I use, usually followed by: “Can we print these big?”Yes, absolutely. Your images are captured with plenty of detail, meaning even after editing, cropping, or reframing, they’re more than capable of becoming large prints, wall art or statement pieces in your home. This is a simple, behind-the-scenes look at the gear I use to photograph weddings across the world, more importantly, why I use it.

My Cameras, Fast, Reliable & Built for Real Moments

Canon has been my comfort zone for years. I know the system inside out and when things get chaotic (which… weddings tend to do), that familiarity is everything.

Canon R3 - My main body. Insanely fast autofocus, great in low light, and built for non-stop moments.

Canon R5 Mark II - My second camera. Amazing colours & detail, perfect for moments that need a bit of intention.

Canon R5C - My safety net and hybrid option. It’s ready when needed, even though it rarely leaves the bag.

My Lenses - The Real Storytellers

Each lens helps shape the story in a different way.

  • Canon RF 15–35mm f/2.8 - For wide, energetic and storytelling moments.
  • Canon RF 28–70mm f/2.0 - The monster that replaces multiple primes.
  • Canon RF 85mm f/1.2 - Portrait perfection. Great for emotional & intimate moments.
  • Canon RF 135mm f/1.8 - Ideal for capturing people without being intrusive.
  • Canon EF 70–200mm f/2.8 II - Perfect for candid moments and outdoor portraits.
  • Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro - For rings, tiny details and artistic close-ups.

The Wildcard - A Different Way to Remember

Sometimes a story deserves to be experienced, not just viewed.

Canon RF 5.2mm Dual Fisheye VR - A unique lens I occasionally use for couples who are curious about stepping into the VR world. It captures immersive still images that let you relive a moment by looking around inside it, rather than just at it. I use this selectively and only when it feels right for the couple and the day. If you’re into tech, storytelling in new ways, or just want something a little different alongside your photographs, I’m always happy to include this as part of your coverage.  (VR imagery is captured as photographs, not video.)
